Let me start by saying I was so inspired by this artist’s photography Marci Ralph. She uses a couch in several of her shoots and they are just awesome! Everything this lady does is just fantastic.
So, I got this idea to use an old couch that had belonged to my late one and only Aunt Lucy. I think I will name the couch Lucy.
Anyway, my brother and his wife are into photography also so it wasn’t hard getting them to be my first victims. My SIL and I decided we could move the couch out into the field by ourselves (or more I thought we could). That thing is heavy! We did manage to get it into the yard but had to wait on my brother and Daddy to come with a truck and move it to the field.
It was perfect! The sage brush is still growing, pine trees to accent the background, it was gorgeous. I thought my subjects did very well also. What do you think?

I am so excited, I have found Kathleen Connally. She has improved her photography through photographing her hometown. Something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Soooo….. I’ve started another blog AlabamaThroughMyLens Check it out! I’m going to post all my photos of the area and you can hopefully watch my photography improve!
Really check out Kathleen’s site, she is truly talented.

The day warmed nicely after the first night of hard freeze. Not being a fan of cold weather I grabbed another pair of socks, added a t-shirt under my sweatshirt. I pushed my feet into snake boots (they’re warm) then tugged insulated coveralls over my clothes. Cap, scarf and gloves completed my attire.
With camera in one hand tripod in other I waddled to my spot. Anticipation is mounting as I settle in. The first day of hunting season and I with my camera. My mind begins to wander, how long before my buck arrives? I sit up excited, something has stirred the leaves. There it is again, the sound of steps crashing through the leaves. It’s coming right at me! My heart is pounding, my mind is swirling, I’m going to get my shot right up close and personal! It’s just outside and it sniffs, my heart sinks. It’s my dog, he has trailed me.
I make him leave and settle back in. Again my mind wanders, ok, I’ll take a doe and yearling. The leaves are stirring again. The anticipation builds, squirrels are chattering, limbs cracking. Then suddenly a squirrel jumps into a near by tree and stares at me. Just stares, like, why are you here? This is our home, you don’t belong. Without warning he jumps from the tree and runs right for me, but veers off just before attacking.
Nothing.
Nothing but the squirrels. Oh, well, there’s always next time.
